IMPORTANT TRYOUT INFORMATION
Who Can Try Out?
Any male student at Oviedo High School in grades 9 through 12.
When & Where Are Tryouts?
Tryouts for the 2025 season begin on August 3 at Twin Rivers Golf Course.
Players must be ready to tee off at 3:00 PM sharp (rain or shine).
Tryout Schedule:
8/3 @ Twin Rivers
8/4 @ Twin Rivers
8/5 @ Tee-It-Up
8/6 @ Twin Rivers (Final Cuts Made)
What Do I Need to Bring?
- Personal golf equipment – Clubs, bag, balls, shoes, tees, gloves, etc.
- Proper golf attire – Collared shirt, golf shorts, and golf shoes (a hat is recommended for sun protection).
- Competitive mindset – Be prepared to play at a high level.
Eligibility:
All paperwork must be completed online through the Athletic Office and approved before tryouts.
TEAM SIZE & SKILL LEVEL
- Team limited to 8–10 players
- Breaking 90 (18 holes) or 45 (9 holes) is strongly recommended
- Match players typically shoot around 40 for 9 holes
Beginners are welcome, but this is a varsity-level program. New golfers should spend time developing skills before tryouts.
Class Schedule Considerations
Balancing academics and athletics is key. Consider:
✔ Taking some virtual classes to allow for more practice time.
✔ Adjusting your schedule to manage practice and match commitments effectively.
✔ Most team members take 7th period virtually, with some also opting for 1st period virtual to allow for more morning recovery time.
